GO BIG

I've worked in advertising as a copywriter since before the Y2K bug wreaked havoc on humanity.

In that time I have created a wide array of campaigns for the AFL, launched the Big Bash League for Cricket Australia, re-thought what the University of Melbourne stands for, electrocuted people’s faces for the Melbourne International Film Festival (no, really!), created the global Wrigley’s Extra “Food Creatures”, made a pub with no beer for Schweppes, and launched the first ever truly funny Christmas Crackers for Camp Quality with jokes written by comedians.

In 2016, I was the 16th most awarded copywriter in the world (and the highest ranked in Australia) which made my kids very proud indeed. Well, they said they were. I'm still not sure they were telling the truth- which proves they really are the children of an ad guy.

Many big businesses think BIG ideas take time.

That they require endless strategy meetings, layers of approval, and cautious, committee-driven decision-making.

Meanwhile, the world moves on. The moment is lost. The opportunity fades.

The truth?

BIG ideas don’t need to take forever. They just need the right approach.

With the right thinking, the right process, and the right creative thinking, powerful, world-shifting ideas can be unlocked... fast.

a big idea for a small brand can launch it TO IMMEDIATE FAME. A big idea for a big brand can send a company into the stratosphere.

It’s easy to do what’s been done before.

It’s also easy to be overtaken by an innovative competitor.

Everyone’s always looking for an easy solution, but name the last one that actually worked!

Because the biggest breakthroughs come from exploring new territory, thinking differently, and trusting in something beyond what the numbers say they explain.

That’s where the BIG things happen.

How to measure if an idea is big.

A truly BIG idea lays at the intersection of these 3 worlds:

BREAKTHROUGH: It will be so simple and powerful you’ll think, “How did I not see it before?”

IMPACT: It will leave an impression. First on you and your team, and then on your customer.

GOOSEBUMPS: It will set your heart racing and make you want to tell everyone you know.

GO BIG: Everything else is a waste of money. If at first glance you don’t LOVE an idea, chances are it’s not BIG.
